Transport and Access

The proposed access has been subject to consultation with Surrey County Highway Authority.

Traffic surveys have been undertaken to determine existing traffic flows and speeds on Leatherhead Road and inform the design of the proposed access arrangements. The resultant proposals provide for a standard width, two-way vehicle access into the site, alongside a separate emergency access route, which will also provide access for pedestrians and cyclists.

It is proposed to provide a ‘ghost island’ arrangement on Leatherhead Road with separate right turn lane to ensure vehicles waiting to turn right into the site do not impact on traffic flow, which will require minor alterations to the existing public highway. Existing bus stops on Leatherhead Road are proposed to be relocated closer to the site access and traffic calming measures are to be incorporated to reduce the speed of vehicles on Leatherhead Road.

Details of the proposed access arrangements are provided below.
